WASHINGTON, DC, March 20, 2002— The National Glass Association (NGA) has named Bob Lawrence of
Glass Wholesalers, Inc., Houston, TX as the recipient of the Glass Professional
of the Year award. The award was presented during the Opening General Session
at The NGA Show 2002 held March 20-22 in Houston,
TX.
Regarded as the glass industry’s most prestigious honor, the Glass Professional of the Year award is presented annually to an individual who exemplifies outstanding service to the glass industry.
Bob began his career in 1968 while attending the University of Texas El Paso and has worked in the glass industry for over 30 years. His skills and experience in sales and management have earned him recognition and awards. In 1991, Bob established a manufacturing and distribution group of companies called Glass Wholesalers, Inc. Today, the group enjoys a leadership position among fabricators through its strong management and excellent employees (now numbering 200), who have been instrumental in creating phenomenal growth over recent years.
Bob is involved in his community through Rotary International, and is a director of The 100 Club, a service organization in support of families of Peace Officers who have been killed in the line of duty. He is also past president of the Rotary Club of Houston Heights and has served as a director for the Houston Area Glass Association and the Texas Glass Association.
Founded in 1948, the National Glass Association is the largest trade association representing the entire flat glass industry. Based in McLean, VA, NGA offers certification, education, and training and serves the industry with the leading trade publications—Glass Magazine, Window & Door, and AutoGlass. NGA currently hosts the National Auto Glass Conference & EXPO and will debut GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo in 2003.
